My advice to new bloggers :-)

Most of us always ask (Or secretly wonder)

“How can I get more readers and traffic?”

I was there before so I understand the frustration that you feel.
After posting something which you’ve spent hours crafting (what may also feel like a masterpiece) and having it ending up getting little to no attention IS very vexing. But don’t worry, I got an answer down below and the answer is pretty simple to understand!

You just gotta do these:

  1. Create
Create Great Content – By GC, I mean content that matters to people. Write about contents OR write in ways that people can relate to! Try it out and see the difference 😉
  2. Share
You gotta share it with people so that people will know you exist!
Heck, even a ghost wouldn’t know you’re in it’s haunted mansion if you don’t go around yelling “Hello? Anybody home??”

    But of course, that’s not a recommended move if you ever find yourself in one… Which brings us to the next point;

  3. Seek out others
The only way to get to people is to GO to them. Seek out other blogs and other communities to get LinkedIn (See what I did there?).

Talk to everyone, comment about their posts and in return, let them come to you and then forge a relationship there!

There’s a reason why the blogosphere is such a positive community- We are all friends here! Some are even more like family 🙂

Hint: Best place to find other bloggers? Search “Community Pool” in the wordpress search tag 😉

  4. DON’T STOP POSTING
Nobody wants to visit a blog that’s no longer active. There’s no interaction, no activity and hence, no purpose to even be there. Unless your contents are REALLY good or forever relevant somehow to people’s lives.

You’re probably thinking now:

“What?! I gotta do ALL that? I thought you said the answer was simple?? You lying Dick!”

Well first off, this is my blogpost and I’m running a Dictatorship in here so yes-
I am a “Dict” 🙂

Second, I said it’s simple to understand (I even did this  to the words *You just gotta do these:* earlier.) but I certainly didn’t say the process is going to be easy!

If you want traffic, that’s the best way that I know of.

Buzz gets it- quickmeme.com

Now that you know one of the best ways to get traffic-

It’s entirely up to you on whether you’re willing to hustle to get it. As the saying goes- You can teach a man how to fish but whether he fishes or not, it’s entirely up him.

    1. Thanks for this comment 🙂

It’s a must indeed. After all, people wouldn’t want to have their time wasted on something that doesn’t bring any value to their lives.

If our content has great value to add, it will definitely help drive traffic. Awesome.

I will look at your blog in a bit! Looking at a few other blogs at the moment too XD

    2. Hey Aditya!

So I just checked out your blog and I just wanna confirm something. You just started blogging right?

The post about GST is your first post yeah?

Just need to know these so that I can see exactly what can be done to help make things better 😉

      1. Okay, very nice. Welcome aboard the blogosphere 😉

Alrighty, first thing to note, “About” page. I can’t find it anywhere and you need to get one up ASAP cause it’s usually the first place new visitors would head over to find out more about you and your blog.

The decision whether to stick around for long can also depend on that page.

It’s like a little introduction page for you. Tell the audience who you are and what your blog is all about 🙂

Your writing is good btw. Clean, specific and organized. That will help give your readers a pleasant reading experience so well done!

Images used for illustration complements your writing. BOOM, doubled the impact. Nice 😉

Nothing much that I can touch on since there is only one post at the moment.

Aesthetics wise, I can’t say whether they fit you or not exactly because so far, I have no idea what the purpose of your blog is.

To make things look better though-
Get a set of menu bar up as soon as you can. Menu bar is the tab that says:

        “Home | About | Blog | Etc”

It will make your site look much more organized and also allow the ease of access for your visitors to navigate around.

In the current state, it feels like a book without a cover page. Know what I’m saying?

That said, it’s entirely up to you on whether to use the things I’ve said or not hahaha!

Remember, it is your blog after all 😉

I hope this helped and if you’ve got questions or anything you’d like to share, do let me know!

    1. Hey Cassie! Thanks for this question 🙂

Well, personally I’d say as many hours as you’d like!

You gotta know why you are blogging too so that you can know for sure if you’d like to invest your time on it and not feel like it’s a chore.

Most people blog as a hobby because they like writing. Some like sharing their day in an “Online Journal”.

The trend here is that it’s a hobby. Something people do for leisure.

People do it in their own time. If you’ve got time to spare, you feel like creating something instead of watching a TV series?

Blog away! It’s supposed to be a fun activity like playing a video game or watching a movie!

You do not have to set timers nor follow strict schedules unless you are running on a tight schedule or are planning to do blogging as sort of a career thing.

Some bloggers do post with a schedule so their followers can have an idea to when they can expect a new post.

My recommendation for new bloggers though, blog in your own time whenever you want- For the joy of it, much like how one would enjoy a fresh cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

Lots of blogs started off exploding with lots of enthusiasm. They’d write a lot in a go but slowly die off when the motivation flame gets extinguished due to burnout, amongst other reasons.

      Don’t fall victim to that!

Btw, I will get to reviewing your blog too but for now, I’m gonna go sleep first lol it’s really late for me XD

      Hope this helped 🙂
If you got other questions, do feel free to ask too!

      1. Thanks for reviewing my blog! I’d love to hear your feedback, though I’m not sure I would want it permanently posted on my blog. If I read it and then delete the comment, don’t be offended. I’ll heed the advice, just take it down from public viewing 🙂

I just visited your site again via my mobile browser and all I can recall is the site’s color scheme.
Might just be me but I feel that grey doesn’t really match your personality lol. Aside from that, I think everything actually looks really good 🙂

Content well written with nice images that goes well with each other. It’s all very well done 😉

Hahaha why would you feel irritated anyway? Hate linking stuff cause they feel like a chore perhaps?

You are afraid to show people your content? I don’t really get that vibe from you though XD

      1. Ha, ha perhaps not. I suppose with there being so much information out on the internet there is always someone trying to shill something to you, I suppose in some ways I feel like I am adding to that!

      2. Ha, ha, no- I suppose I get bored of the ones who are just trying to get you to buy something that I will do anything to avoid being like them, if it means under promoting my work 🙂

      3. I suppose it’s better that a best friends pesters me to do something because we have a relationship where time has been invested into each other. The average shiller forgets all about the importance of building the trust and relationship first 🙂

        Liked by 2 people

      4. Amen! Not a bad thing though. Better that way so that we won’t have to filter through “fake friendships” and waste our resources when we finally figure that “friend” was really just agreeing our resources eh?

Besides, if our best friends do it to us, we can always rip on them for fun hah!

I remember selling an old PlayStation 3 to my friend and it broke down in a few weeks or months and my friends would sometimes bring it up again just to make me feel bad- even today hahaha! Good times XD

Friends may require some resources to maintain but man they are worth the investment, don’t you agree? 😉

      5. They are definitely worth it. I have friends who in many ways I feel I have grown apart from. At first I was frustrated because while I was working to make my life better they never seemed to be doing anything.

I enjoy there company and go see films with them though I would never expect to ever have a serious discussion with them.

      6. That I understand bud. I, too, had to separate myself from a number of friends whom I used to be close with just because our life goals are different.

They are mostly about gaming and stuff, which I can totally understand but I wanna do more in my life than to just play computer games almost every hour in my free time, you know?

Fortunately enough for me though, I was lucky enough to have found a few people who’ve got higher aim in life as well so at least there’s a mini “master mind” group for me even though we are all agreeing different things in life lol!

Another reason why I want this pbiy community thing to work- help others find like minded people XD

Mind if I ask what’s your current mission for yourself?

      7. It’s great having groups of people (or just a person will do), who are doing things. If anything I find it inspiring to talk to them and in some ways they motivate me when I need to do more stuff.

I was actually just reviewing this morning what my goals this morning. I have three main areas where I have a long term focus and in each one I break down into mini goals that I focus on each month.

The big long term ones are:

Fitness/nutrition (overall aim to ensure that I stay and healthy and that I get stronger and faster)

Career – to become a Project Manager and a role model for my organisation

Writing – to keep maintaining a regular blog, engaging with my audience and trying to increase it’s size, while working up to writing a book (approx. 300 pages)

Therefore this month to help me to work towards these goals I am:

        Fitness:
Aiming to get down from 15.9% bodyfat to 9.9% bodyfat
Cycling or running to the train station from my home every workday

        Career:
Develop my skills to run a workshop for my team – I will plan, research it, practice it and run it
Develop my knowledge of using Project Management tools and documentations such as creating project briefs and highlight reports

        Writing:
Write an ebook approx. 30 to 50 pages
Wrtie a blog post five times a week
        Increase my social media presence:
aim to get 500 wordpress followers
        10,000 twitter followers
Average 100 page visitors per day

        – I have set some amibitous targets and am sure that I won’t achieve most by the end of the month but I have come to realise the harder you make it the more you work towards it.

I accept that I will fail a number of these goals, but as long as I see improvements I will be happy!

      8. Nice! It’s true that setting higher expectations would likely yield better results but do take note of the possibilities of burnout when you keep striving but for some reason, your goal never seem reachable!

However, I’m quite confident that you’re able to manage it all right so I won’t worry too much about you hehe keep up the good work 😉

I will keep track of your progress too!

Always good to have long and short term goals to help give us a more specific direction in life eh? 🙂

For now though, we are still a small group tbh lol but I know I will keep building it up with my YouTube channel too as I try to reach out to more ppl with my videos on games and story telling lol!

        Now onto your blog review!

First, overall look is wonderfully laid out. It looks really cutesy and has this homey feel to it- that’s what you’re going for, no? XD

Now, I did notice a few post like “Haunted Mansion” and “Travel Adventure” that your paragraphs aren’t separated. They are all jumbled up together and I found it kinda hard to read lol. It’s like a huge block of words being bundled together and it affects reader’s experience, do take note of that, yeah?

Aside from this, good use of images for illustration and it definitely helps with the immersion. Great shots with the photos btw, I think they were nicely taken 😉

I noticed you still got “uncategorized” in your categories. Might wanna consider removing that to make things look more “Professional” and also, consider adding an archive section.

Archive section would organize your posts into a monthly/yearly format and it’ll allow your readers to check out your older post with ease too 😉

Overall, your blog looks really nice so keep it up! Hope this helped and if you got questions, feel free to ask eh? 😉

      1. Hello Chibueze!

Alright so I just went through your blog, read through a few posts and I want to tell you, you’re doing really really well!

Keep doing what you’ve been doing. Don’t worry too much about post rate for now. Focus on creating these sweet content.

Your writing style is really good plus the look and feel of your site gives off the positive vibe that I’m sure many will feel for sure. Amazing.

I can’t think of anything bad to point out so far- you’ve got yourself a pretty nicely built blog here, the presentation is good as well.

Your writing plus the images used definitely complement each other and that doubles the impact of your words.

Topics are very interesting as well, at least from the ones I’ve seen lol. Got nothing to add so I say you are good.

Considering how you just started blogging too? This is actually a really well made blog that showed little to no sign of you being a new blogger and that says a lot.

Keep up the good work and feel free to ask me anything if you got questions 😉

      3. Hey Devangi! Sorry for late respond! Think I was too busy and forgot about comments :O

Anyway if you still need help with this, here it goes-

Blog = blog posts will be added into the blog feed (or category as well) whenever a new post is posted into the specific category.

Imagine threads of needle with different color threads; and you can always slide a new bead into each different color based on the category/topic.

Pages = These are like decorations in a house. You set them up and leave it there for people to look at. It can have informative value or just there to be an eye candy.

        Does that make sense? XD

Hope I wasn’t too late and hope this helped! Do let me know if you need anything else eh? 🙂

      4. So you mean that site pages are published on the web page and blogs on the wordpress site? Am I right or have I misunderstood? Can you clear it again?😐 Thanks😃

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Aye something like that indeed.

Blog posts, if you tag it with “poetry”-

If people search “poetry” on WordPress, your post will show up because it was tagged with poetry.

If you make a “category”, it’s only categorize / organize within the boundary of your site.

To have your content show up in the WordPress’s specific topic feed? Use the “tag” function.

If I recall it correctly, you can also use it to organize your blog’s content as with category too. Sorry been years since I did all these so it’s a little hard for me to explain hahaha hope it makes sense though!

If you are still confused, please ask again and I’ll try to make it clearer XD
